Continuing from our first day bridal show recap last week, here’s a look at Day 2 of our New York Bridal Week experience.
Berta Fall 2016 Wedding Dresses
The Grand Ballroom at the Plaza Hotel New York provided the setting for Berta’s intoxicating Fall 2016 runway presentation, which features the label’s signature sultry looks. The show started with an ensemble with an illusion off-the-shoulder beaded cape. There were a number of wedding dresses that feature detachable overskirts, but one embroidered sleeveless number in particular drew an appreciative “wow” throughout the audience (pictured). The finale gown is a guipure lace dress, matched with a beaded cathedral veil that enveloped the gown with an ethereal sparkle.
Modern Trousseau Fall 2016 Wedding Dresses
Then it’s off to Studio Arte for Modern Trousseau. We were greeted by designer Callie Tein, who started off by introducing classics looks from Modern Trousseau’s previous seasons. After that we were given a walk through of the Fall 2016 collection. The fabric selection and handcrafted detailing that went into the design of each wedding dress were really impressive. We are absolutely loving the lace halter neck gowns for this season.
Christos Costarellos Fall 2016 Wedding Dresses
Our next appointment was with Costarellos at Edition Hotel. Designer Christos Costarellos walked us through the inspiration and the different fabrics and laces used in his romantic, bohemian collection (the collection’s signature gown comprises four different laces sourced from various European lace houses). The designer shared that the Costarellos bride is confident of her own style and would like a gown to mirror her distinct individuality for her wedding. The dresses are light and comfortable (great for a destination weddings!) and the brand’s unique aesthetic is perfectly reflected in each gown.
Galia Lahav Fall 2016 Collections: Gala Ready-to-Wear Wedding Dresses & Ivory Tower Haute Couture Bridal Collection
A thunderstorm erupted minutes before the 6:30pm timeslot for Galia Lahav. Despite the weather, it was a full house crowd at New York Public Library’s Stephen A. Schwarzman Building, the venue for tonight’s show. The show started with GALA, Galia Lahav’s first ready-to-wear bridal collection. The collection features a variety of romantic wedding gowns with embellished bodices and flowing skirts and glamorous body skimming numbers.
Halfway through the presentation, the lights dimmed and the sole calla lily stalk in the middle of centerpiece was exchanged for a red rose, marking the start of Galia Lahav's haute couture bridal collection, “Ivory Tower”. Headpieces get increasingly over the top (gilded horns, sunburst tiaras) to match the heightened drama of the exquisitely embellished gowns.
