Christos Costarellos two-piece featuring a half-sleeve cropped top and ethereal skirt
If there’s one word to summarize the bridal landscape in 2016, it’s “OPTIONS”. In the 2016 bridal presentations, there wasn’t a distinct wedding dress silhouette or novel detail that emerged (we’ve already done color, and all permutations of sleeves, necklines and hemlines in the past few years). Instead, brides-to-be were presented with a dizzying variety of options, even within a collection (yay!). A lot of the hottest bridal trends of 2015 will still be popular this year, with some minor updates. Here are some of the bridal trends we love for 2016:
Two-Piece Wedding Dresses
Remember one gown, two looks and the crop top trends of 2015? The two-piece (or three-piece) bridal gown is a natural evolution of this trend. What we really love about bridal separates? Switching the top or the skirt for another piece gives you an entirely different look.
This Legends Romona Keveza dress (it’s actually a long sleeved mini dress!) features a removable ball gown skirt. In fact, the entire Fall 2016 Legends Romona Keveza collection comprises convertible pieces that allow the bride to create her own bridal look!
Crop + Pockets
Speaking of cropped tops, designers have fully embraced the trend for the 2016 bridal season. We’re also seeing a lot of crop tops paired with skirts that have pockets. A really fun and casual look for a destination wedding!

Wedding Dresses with Short Sleeves or Half Sleeves
Long sleeve and ¾ sleeve wedding dresses are everywhere, and we love it! If you’re looking for something a little different, try a gown with half sleeves (which end around the elbows).
“Marie” from Charlotte Balbier’s 2016 bridal collection features beautiful illusion lace half sleeves.
Short sleeves are the slightly longer, but equally pretty cousin of the cap sleeves.

Gowns with light, fluid layers
These are gowns with layers and layers of soft fabric (like silk chiffon) that dance and float as you move.

Motifs with geometric or crystal inspired forms
While lace and organic, feminine details are ever present, some designers are incorporating fresh, geometric details into their designs.
High Necklines
Mock turtlenecks, halternecks and stand-up collars are getting their moment in the sun in 2016.
