Aeisha Varsey creation seen at Pakistan Fashion week in Karachi. I am in love with this ensemble – the intricate beading, gold threads, sequins and off-white color scheme. The top kinda reminds me of some modern kebaya designs (with stand up Mandarin collar) that are based on the Vietnamese traditional costume, the áo dài. Looks perfect for an evening of glamour. Lights! Camera! Fashion! :)

A modern dress using traditional sari fabric. I like the pale peacock blue + gold colors and asymmetrical hem, the ruffles at the shoulders and use of contrasting print for the top. Update: This is by Fahad Hussayn (thanks, Kat).

Time for a Wedding Inspirasi remix! I love the top from the first outfit so so much, but a mid calf length pant suit is not something I would wear for my wedding (unless it’s a just short matrimonial ceremony at the civil office), so I’ve turned the trousers into a kain panjang (maxi skirt) and voila! A beautiful modern baju kebaya is born! I love this look! Speaking of kebayas, I’ll be seeing a lot of them on the streets of Singapore today as Muslims celebrate Eid al-Adha. Eid Mubarak!
