Dresses from Stephane Rolland Winter 2009-2010 Haute Couture collection. The simple yet attractive gown below is “The wedding dress” – a long embroidered sweater dress in ivory tweed bouclé.
At age 20, Stephane Rolland was hired by Balenciaga to work on its menswear collection. He was promoted to creative director within a year and at 24 the talented designer left the fashion house to start his own prêt-à-porter collection. Phew!
Elegant embroidered evening dress in gray pearl crêpe Georgette. Love the sleeves, shoulder and cinched waist detail. Oh, and the way the fabric floats. :)
I’m partial to any variant of the Bishop sleeve (see Jenny Packham’s hippie wedding dress) but wedding dresses featuring these sleeves (or any other fancy type of sleeves for that matter) are few and far between. Here’s a WI Remix based on a white crepe high collar tunic dress. The skirt is from the grey evening dress from the previous picture.
What do you think? Would you join Roland keeling over and lying in a pool of his own vomit with this remix? :D Or does it work for you?
