Gorgeous wedding gown inspiration straight off the red carpets of Cannes Film Festival 2010.
Chinese actress Fan Bing Bing (范冰冰) wowed us in a yellow embroidered long pao-inspired one-shoulder gown featuring oriental motifs at the ‘Robin Hood’ Premiere at the Palais des Festivals during the 63rd Annual Cannes Film Festival on May 12 2010. A long pao or dragon robe is the royal garment associated with Chinese emperors of dynasties past. Designed by Chinese fashion designer Laurence Hsu (劳伦斯·许), the dress called dong fang xiang yun (东方祥云 or literally Eastern Oriental Auspicious Cloud) took 30 workers 11 days straight to complete the hand embroidery and finishing.
At the ‘Rizhao Chongqing’ (日照重庆 or Chongqing Blues) premiere, Bing Bing who looked every inch a porcelain doll, with her red lips, flawless alabaster skin and neat updo, wore a peach-colored Elie Saab Couture gown. The back of her dress features a motif, which looks like a bird in flight (an eagle?).
From one stunning Asian actress, we move on to another, this time from the Indian sub-continent. Yes it’s Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, looking fantastic in a figure hugging black Armani Privé strapless gown. She looked very chummy with Desperate Housewife actress, Eva Longoria Parker, who was dressed in a glittery Naeem Khan creation. From the front, their bouffant quiff hairdo looked almost similar.
Speaking of Eva, she looks absolutely amazing in this white Emilio Pucci silk chiffon ruffle gown featuring a dramatic train. Lovely coral earrings and Swarovski clutch completed her winning look. Her red carpet BFF Aishwarya was dressed in a powder blue Elie Saab Couture off-shoulder gown, from the Spring 2010 collection. Don’t these two look cute with their matching ruffle trains?
Elie Saab seems to be the big winner at Cannes. Helen Mirren donned not one but two of his creations. First, a black jersery asymmetrical neckline number from his Fall 2010 collection. She wore it with a pair of diamond cuff bracelets and drop earrings by Chopard but her best accessory were her deep red lips.
At the Chopard Trophy Awards, Helen Mirren looked like a million dollars, wearing another Elie Saab creation and more Chopard bling. In the process managed to outshine (literally and figuratively) everyone else, even model Liya Kebede. Yes, in her dusty gray gown with glittery sash belt, she managed to stand out even when standing in front of a similarly colored background. This dame's got a sparkling presence alright.
British actress Kate Beckinsale looked positively radiant at the “Robin Hood” Premiere in her dusty blue draped ruffle tulle gown by Marchesa. This outfit probably has the most bridal gown factor among the rest. And doesn't she just look like a happy bride here? :)
There's definite an eagle on Cate Blanchett black and silver boat neck gown with white tulle hemline from Alexander McQueen's pre-fall 2010 collection. Accessorized with chunky bracelets, this is one look only daring brides can rock.
Which one of these is your favorite look?
