Chanel Spring/Summer 2011 haute couture collection is Karl Lagerfeld’s splendid show of light in all sense of the word — apparent weightlessness of gauzy fabrics, brilliant luminosity from shimmering pearl, bead and crystal embroideries and of the casual, almost frivolous approach to high fashion. Light, though, is not the amount work put into each of these dresses with intricate detailing (“some of these tops have 400,000 pearls and crystals, can you imagine?”) And it shows. In motion, the dress above looks like it was spun from millions of dew drops from a spider web, each crystal bead glistening beautifully as the model glides through the runway. Magical!
Adore this dress with black ribbon! We see it being worn by someone with a carefree, gamine appeal.

Lovely ruffle top worn with shiny crystal leggings.
Trip the light fantastic -- wouldn't you just wanna twirl around in this skirt?
Casual chic couture - sash worn low at the waist gives this dress a more relaxed feel.
Shorter length ruffle skirt shows a key accessory in this collection - flats with transparent ankle straps.
Champagne gold trapeze dress with black accent at the hem.
Pleated tunic in the prettiest shade of pink, worn with cropped jacket and leggings.
A cute pink dress with ruffled sleeves. Just one of the pieces with a definite air of youthful charm.
Speaking of youthful... Kristen McMenamy is the bride in the Chanel finale. We remember her from the 90s. Why doesn't she age? OMG she's gonna be 47 this year?! Gorgeous silver hair.
