Aaaand, we’re back! It’s our first proper post of the year, and we’re kicking things off with a 2015 bridal trend report. If you’re recently engaged (congrats!) and about to embark on your gown hunt, here’s all the 2015 bridal fashion trends you need to know.
One Gown, Two Looks (or more)
Love the idea of having more than one wedding day look for your big day? Enter two-piece gowns, lace toppers, jackets and overskirts. While delicate lace boleros have been around for awhile, more designers are pushing separates as a major part of their bridal collections.
“Mia” from Zuhair Murad’s Fall 2015 bridal collection, shown with ball gown overskirt. This is one of a number of gowns from this collection that come with an over skirt option.
Sally Lacock’s bridal separates collection features a variety of interchangeable tops and skirts, allowing for a myriad of beautiful vintage-inspired looks.
The Illusion Silhouette
Is it a sheath or a ball gown? Empire or mermaid? Blur the (A-)line with ethereal sheer overlays. You’ve heard of illusion necklines and illusion sleeves, let’s welcome the illusion silhouette (you heard it first here!).

Off the Shoulder, Off the Charts
The super elegant off-the-shoulder neckline has always been a mainstay of many contemporary bridal collections. Thanks to Amal Clooney’s Oscar de la Renta gown, shoulder baring necklines will receive even more attention in 2015.

Take the Plunge…
Necklines are taking a dip into the deep V. Not a fan of baring your decolletage? A lace insert or modesty panel keeps your cleavage (mostly) hidden. Or consider the plunging neckline’s cousin, the open back.

...Or Go High
On the flipside, high illusion necklines are also seen in a lot of 2015 bridal collections.

Crop & Cut
Cropped tops and geometric side cutouts are a runway hit. These detail bring a relaxed casual vibe to the bridal look. If you're not the belly flaunting type, don't wave off this trend just yet. A cropped top works beautifully with a covered midriff too.

"Rose" dress by St. Pucchi has a cropped blouse with a cape-like lace train. Two bridal trends we love for 2015.
Superhero Fairytale
Ever since we saw Gwyneth Paltrow and Lupita Nyong'o rocking the red carpet in a cape dress, we've been dying to see how this look translates on the aisle (thank you Solange for showing us how to do it with style!) Introduce an element of fantasy or royalty into a bridal look with capes, capelets and cloaks. Afraid of looking more Maleficent than magnificent? Try the delicate lace variety.

The Train Has Arrived
Scalloped, ruffled or multi-textured, exquisitely-detailed trains make for a stunning entrance and exit.

Clean Lines
The minimally embellished gown is super chic and modern, and works well with more dramatic accessories (like the bridal cape!).

A Good Back Story
What's better than an blinged out bodice? Why a lavishly beaded back, of course!
