What was inspiration behind Galia Lahav's Fall 2021 collection?
“The way a bride moves in her dress as she twirls around the dance floor is unforgettable. It’s her moment to express her happiness and excitement. Our Fall/Winter 2021 bridal collection was inspired by that freedom of expression through dance and movement. Named after the song “Dancing Queen” by ABBA from Mamma Mia!, the first musical our head designer Sharon Sever listened to while away at college, this collection is an homage to a woman’s artistic heart, independent spirit, and freedom to make her own choices in the way she represents herself.”
Graceful silhouettes, delicate embellishments, balletic shades of pink. While the collection name came from the musical, the designs pay homage by two icons in ballet, Anna Pavlova and Alba Arnova. Particular attention was given to the bodices: a gown with a sheer paneling corset bodice (Sabrina) brings to mind to latter's eyebrow-raising leotard, while the asymmetrically sequinned Lais captures the Pavlova's prima ballerina glamour. Of course, these being Galia Lahav wedding dresses, the designs are unique, modern interpretations, fashioned in the couture house inimitable, envelope-pushing execution.
